To call Light of Islam a bookstore does not reflect all that it does, nor all that happens here.  It is a community center and an educational center, a quiet, comfortable place where people of all faith backgrounds come to talk, relax, discuss and learn.  Selling books and other merchandise is just part of what we do, and is not our sole focus, nor our sole source of revenue.  We are primarily supported by contributions from the community.

Light of Islam is at a critical point.  August will mark the second anniversary of the bookstore’s opening – and it will also mark the time to renew the bookstore’s lease.  To go forward we need to feel confident that the bookstore will thrive for another two years, and at the current sales volume and level of donations we do not have the certainty we need. 

Therefore, the board of directors and I have decided to engage in a short-term fundraising effort to ensure the bookstore needn’t merely struggle over the next few months, but will have the time and resources to thrive. 

We are asking for your help.  Please donate to Light of Islam.  As a reminder, the bookstore is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization; your donation is tax-deductible.
